As a youngster singing treble in New Mill church choir in the late 1950s/early 1960s, I often heard sung the hymn Come ye that love the Lord, to an old "ranter" type of tune, known locally by the name FRATCHER (I'm guessing the spelling). I've been unable to locate this tune, or any information about it, in any published material I've had access to. I did come across printed copies at New Mill, with no acknowledgements, under the name HOLY PLACE, and this can be seen (pdf file) at HOLY PLACE. If anyone can give me any pointers to the origin of this tune, I would be grateful.
